Concord has expanded its theatrical portfolio by acquiring Broadway Licensing Global (BLG). This strategic move integrates BLG's imprints, including Broadway Licensing, Dramatists Play Service, Playscripts, and Stage Rights, into Concord Theatricals. However, the deal does not include BLG’s live content creation arm, Stageworks, or the streaming service, Broadway on Demand.

The acquisition, finalized on Thursday, brings together a vast library of 18,000 works, combining Concord's existing 10,000 titles with BLG's 8,000 shows. Additionally, 150 titles and 400 authors that were previously shared between the two companies are now unified under one roof.

Concord Theatricals, established in 2018, includes the catalogs of Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatricals, Tams-Witmark, Samuel French, and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection. The firm offers a range of services to creators and producers, such as theatrical licensing, music publishing, script publishing, cast recording, and first-class producing. Over the past six years, Concord has been recognized with three Tony Awards and two Grammy Awards.

BLG and its imprints represent a distinguished list of authors and rightsholders, including David Auburn, Jocelyn Bioh, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Richard Greenberg, Lauren Gunderson, Katori Hall, David Henry Hwang, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Michael Korie, John Leguizamo, Matthew López, Martyna Majok, Martin McDonagh, Conor McPherson, Alan Menken, Arthur Miller, Lynn Nottage, John Patrick Shanley, Sam Shepard, Tom Stoppard, Paula Vogel, Tennessee Williams, Doug Wright, Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, Hasbro, and Mischief Worldwide.

Sean Patrick Flahaven, Chief Theatricals Executive of Concord, revealed that discussions between the companies began last summer when BLG’s shareholders initiated contact to explore an acquisition. “We share a common goal of representing, protecting, and promoting the work of authors and facilitating as many productions of their works as possible, from elementary schools to global tours. Joining forces will enhance our service to both authors and producers,” Flahaven stated.
